Now let your students work at the computer to locate the letters they are learning. Show them how the CAPS LOCK key works and encourage them to try and write the entire alphabet with a space between each letter in CAPITAL LETTERS, then let the computer read them back. Have them release the caps lock and type all the ABCs in lowercase letters, and listen to the computer read them back. Remember that students need time at the computer just for exploration of letters, to hear how they sound, to write words they know or see in their environment.
Suggest they write their names in as many ways as they can think of and then print it out; they might want to do this with other family members' names as well. Show them how to copy it and paste it again and again on their screen. Watch their delight as the computer reads their names over and over again.
