Copolymers have better creep resistance, thermal stability and processability. Unsuitable for continuous use in hot water or steam. APPLICATIONS: Applications where good abrasion resistance and low coefficient of friction are needed (bearings, gears and conveyor belt links). Components with snap fits. Cams. Plumbing components such as valve stems, pump impellors.
Const. 80 MPa °C 75 Matl. drying hrs @ °C 2 @ 75 Melt temp. 6 Mould temp. Relatively easy to injection mould. Excellent dielectric strength. DISADVANTAGES: Electrical properties affected by high humidity. Limited temperature range up to 130°C (270°F). APPLICATIONS: Mouldings for electronic components such as coils and brush holders, pump impellers. Cookware for microwave ovens. Coatings, particularly for aluminium and wood. Alkyd: Long glass fibre reinforced; high impact ADVANTAGES: Long glass fibre gives the highest tensile strength, oxygen index, flexural modulus, notched izod impact strength and heat distortion temperature for alkyd grades within this Handbook.
