As you perform the lower abdominal exercises, you will notice that your body has a tendency to raise the lower back, especially with exercises such as the Flutter Kicks and Knee Roll Ups. To help keep proper form, if you raise your head and shoulder blades off the mat while performing the proper technique, your lower back will stay flat on the mat. As soon as you lay your head down from fatigue, your lower back will begin to arch.
