' K-44 - Serial 30166, Goodyear envelope 0-211, control car C-1 02, control surfaces F-150 delivered to Lakehurst 08 March 1943. With ZP-21 on 28 March, K-44 located two shipwre~ked men marooned on the Cayo Megan Lighthouse near the Cuban Coast. K-44 summoned and directed a surface rescue ship. K-45 - Serial 30167, Goodyear envelope 0-223, control car C-1 03, control surfaces F-152 delivered to La~ehurst 09 March 1943.

Seen above with the rebuilt hulk of the K-22, the test articles are being used to evaluate a Johnson water-emulsified wax as an envelope snow repellent. Snow-removal techniques, using fire hoses and various nozzles, were also tested. In warm climates, fire hose spray was used to cool the superheated envelopes to prevent helium loss through the overpressure safety valves. K-15 was in service at South Weymouth June to December 1944. With ZP-51 , K-16 sighted three men in a boat and directed the Coast Guard to the scene. Reassigned to Lakehurst and on 06 May 1945 (with K-58), it was assigned a special MAD patrol in search of a U-boat believed east of Long Island, NY, in the area where the SS Black Point had been torpedoed 12 hours earlier.
