In situations in which a great deal of concept mapping is being done, one should also consider the risk of dealing with respondent “burnout,” where too much effort is being expected from individual participants within the project time frame. A well-planned schedule should balance the needs of a reasonable project time frame with the efforts of its participants. Once a concept mapping process has been established, the initiators and facilitator have a basis to set an overall time frame for project completion, as well as determine the best format for the final report and/or presentation.
